Jack's Great Grandparents

My Dyer ancestors emigrated to the United States from the Province of Quebec, French Canada after 1880. The family spoke both French and English. Louis Dyer and his wife Mary Adeline Miner Dyer were first to arrive with their children.

My Harrington ancestors emigrated to the United States from the Maritime Province of Nova Scotia.
Lemuel William Harrington was born in Quebec of English parents. He was a ship carpenter in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia and River John, Nova Scotia. His wife was Susan Mingo Harrington. Their daughters, my grandmother
Annie McKenzie Harrington and her sister Carrie, emigrated to Attleborough, MA in 1885.

My Mingo ancestors emigrated to Philadelphia Pennsylvania about 1750 from Montbeliard, France. They were Swiss Protestants, manufacturers of metal goods who made their living by trading, sailing the east coast of the United States to Canada. Matthew Mingo married Mary Hynds.

My Conway ancestors emigrated to America from Ireland before 1876. It was in Providence, Rhode Island that Bridget Conway met and married William Moran.

William Moran is thought to have been a native of Co Leitrim, Ireland. He was in Rhode Island by 1876 when he married for a second time. We are tracking some information recently found concerning his possible service in a Civil War light artillery unit from Connecticut before his arrival in Rhode Island.

My Taylor ancestors emigrated to America from Scotland in 1872. Robert Matthew Taylor had married
Elizabeth Barr, daughter of Robert and Rose Barr, in Scotland before 1869. Robert was a gold plater.
